Friday – Friday I’m In Love art print inspired by The Cure

My interpretation of The Cure‘s classic, and biggest, hit ‘Friday I’m In Love’, Friday is a raw and honest take on the song’s deeper themes of paranoia, confusion and the fracturing effect of love. With colour cues taken from the single’s parent album ‘Wish’, Friday immediately digs underneath the pop song accessibility, connecting with the deeper themes and emotions at play in the lyrics and the wider album.

This atmospheric piece of The Cure inspired music art is printed to order on highest quality 305gsm Hahnemuhle art paper (a white, versatile stock perfectly suited to contemporary illustration) using sunlight-resistant inks. Images are sharp, crisp and vibrant, with high density and vivid colours. Sold unframed and prices include delivery. Choose a version with or without the ‘Friday’ text, depending on how cryptic you want to be!

Why a Friday I’m In Love Art Print?

There are a LOT of Friday I’m In Love art prints already out there, but so many of them seem to focus solely on the jangle-pop romance. Sure, on the surface and to an untrained ear, Friday I’m In Love is a carefree singalong love song… and a brilliant one. But listen to it in the context of its parent album ‘Wish’ and you begin to sense the contradictions at play.

It’s an extreme, almost schizophrenic twist of optimism in what is otherwise a dark, paranoid narrative. This isn’t about love hearts, it’s about human heart. Toyed with, stretched, crushed, to the point of utter disarray and delerium. Rather then paint the usual pretty picture of true love skipping into a carefree weekend, I’ve tried to encapsulate that feeling of confusion and disorientation that only true love can bring.

The canvas is split into seven rows – Monday’s blue, Tuesday’s grey, Wednesday too, Thursday’s not there, Friday’s pure and vivid. Monday to Wednesday, the heart image is more heavily distressed, becoming clearer as ‘Friday’ approaches. The colours are taken from the album artwork, a reflection of it’s wider framing of the song.

Museum-Grade Giclée Reproduction
The standard for high-end gallery work. These are produced using a 12-colour pigment ink system that captures every tonal nuance and cryptic detail of the original &y design. With a resolution of up to 2400 dpi and 99% Pantone coverage, the result is a sharp, vibrant statement piece with the deep, true blacks and smooth graduations that alternative music art demands.

308gsm Hahnemühle Photo Rag
One of the world’s most popular papers for fine art photography and illustration. This is a heavy-weight, 100% cotton white paper with a smooth, felt-like surface that gives the artwork a tactile, premium depth. It is acid- and lignin-free (pH neutral), meeting the most exacting requirements for age resistance and a high-end, matte finish.

A statement that stays on the wall. The combination of water-resistant pigment inks and museum-grade paper ensures the artwork is fade-resistant for up to 200 years. These materials are widely accepted by galleries and collectors worldwide for their durability and long-term collectable quality.
