Spaceman Oasis art print inspired by “D’yer Wanna Be A Spaceman”

Inspired by Oasis’ brilliant, nostalgia-soaked 1994 B-side D’yer Wanna Be A Spaceman?, ‘Spaceman’ explores our changing relationship with imagination, wonder, and the gradual erosion of our biggest dreams.

The story unfolds across the print in three evocative visual stages:

Hanging round, climbing trees, pretending to fly…
A swinging tyre hanging from a branch – a perfect symbol of childhood imagination – a piece of old rope is all that’s needed to reach for the stars.

It’s funny how your dreams change as you’re growing old…
A drying riverbank and a stark, leafless tree set against a greying sky signify the onset of adult inhibitions. We tell ourselves our ambitions are out of reach. A discarded astronaut’s helmet is a poignant symbol of abandoned potential and the dreams we leave behind.

But if you wanna be a spaceman, it’s still not too late…
High in the sky, there’s a spark of possibility as our Spaceman finally blasts off. A reminder that we’re never too old to look up, dream big and take flight. If you wanna be a spaceman, it’s never too late.

For a long time, this was just an idea – a crystal-clear image I carried with me but didn’t quite have the courage to bring to life in the way I imagined it. In a beautiful, full-circle way, creating this piece mirrored the exact sentiment of the song itself: a reminder to stop letting inhibitions hold us back.

‘Spaceman’ is a  deeply resonant piece of art, an instant conversation starter for any room, and a beautiful tribute to the dreamers who refuse to stop dreaming. Own a truly unique interpretation of a nostalgia-soaked classic.
